Hydration and health: Why water is the ultimate thirst quencher

PLAIN WATER. PLAIN AWESOME: IT’S ESSENTIAL FOR A REASON.

Around 60% of our body is water.

Water doesn’t need to do tricks to impress us, considering that most of our body is literally made of the stuff. Sure, H2O might not win any awards for flavor of the year, but that’s exactly where we come in. And the benefits of hydration? Absolutely stellar.

Staying hydrated helps your mind and body perform at their best.

Go online and search ‘how to be healthier,’ ‘how to sleep better,’ or even ‘how to survive a music festival.’ Go on, we’ll wait. We guarantee one of the top tips is always to drink more water. If not, THE top tip.

So, refill your air up® bottle because we’re about to dive into some thirsty work. Yep, we’re serious.

Studies show that, staying hydrated can greatly benefit both your mind and your body. Here’s how:

Sustainability Our way to 100-

You’ve definitely heard this one. And we can confirm it’s not a rumour. It’s true.

If you're thirsty, you're already dehydrated.

Ever felt sluggish, like you’re moving through molasses? Chances are, you might not be drinking enough water. Of course, dehydration can sneak up in you in other, more obvious ways, too. These include headaches, mental fog, and dizziness. Not fun! (1)

Think that’s not a problem? You’d be surprised how common dehydration is. According to reports, around 20% of people in Germany, Spain, and Greece suffer from dehydration over a seven-day period. (2)

Not in these spots? Doesn’t mean you’re safe from dehydration. So, sip up!

Your body needs water. So why use anything else?

Sugar and hydration: A sticky subject

Sure, our body needs sugar (well, except for that refined rubbish). What it doesn’t need is excessive and unnecessary amounts of it, especially when you’re thirsty. When it’s hydration time, plain water is where it’s at.

You are probably hitting your sugar quota just with your daily meals and snacks alone. It’s not necessarily a bad thing. It’s just how it is. So, give your body what it craves – crisp, clean water.

Reminder – take a sip. Or two. Or three! Reading is thirsty work, after all.

SWEET SIPS? MORE LIKE BITTER TRUTHS.

Should you hydrate with sugar-packed drinks?

Sweetened and sugary beverages are not your pals. They don’t really hydrate you. At least, not as much as you’d expect. They also bring several other unwanted side effects with them.

Drinking sugary drinks:

  • Increases fat production in both your liver and abdomen. Yikes!

  • Significantly increases your chances of developing type 2 diabetes. Double yikes!

  • Makes you very likely to get addicted to sugar. Triple yikes!

Considering most of these drinks contain no essential nutrients, that’s bad. But hey, there’s a simple fix! You can kick all 3 of these to the curb by swapping out sugar-sweetened drinks for plain water, still or sparkling. From an air up® bottle. Naturally.

GOT QUESTIONS? WE’VE GOT ANSWERS.

Is air up® bad for you?

No! air up®️ supports, encourages and reinforces the healthy habit of drinking water. With air up® you are drinking just water. And it’s free from all regulated allergens. But if you have any food sensitivities, we would suggest you check with your healthcare provider about certain flavors.

Do I really drink only water with air up®?

Yep, you really do drink 99.99% plain water.

We started tests at the German Research Institute for Food Chemistry (Leibnitz Institute) and at the Technical University of Munich in 2017. The results showed that the water is 99.99% pure. If you swallow some of the aroma (which can happen during the drinking process), a very small amount of natural aroma ends up in your body. This is quite similar to the amount you’d inhale in a bakery when you smell fresh bread. And, when that happens, you don’t consider that you’ve eaten or digested any bread, do you?

Is air up 0 calories?

Yep, totally 0 calories! Our pods don't contain any calories at all. Just pure, deliciously scented water. No calories, no sugar, no nasties—just hydration magic.

Is tap water safe to drink everywhere? Let’s spill the tea!

Tap water is safe to drink in most European countries, including the UK, as well as in the US, so you can fill up your air up® Bottle without worry. However, not all tap water around the world is created equal. Before you sip, always check the local guidelines to ensure your water is safe and sound.

How much water should you drink daily? Let's break it down!

Staying hydrated is key to feeling your best, but how much water should you actually be drinking each day? Here’s the scoop:

  • Men: Aim for about 125 ounces (13 cups) of fluids per day. That means refilling your 22-ounce air up® Bottle roughly 5 times throughout the day, especially if you’re also going to drink that matcha latte or sneak in a couple cappuccinos.

  • Women: Aim for about 91 ounces (9 cups) of fluids per day. You’ll need to refill your 22-ounce air up® Bottle 4, making room for that dirty chai latte or a green tea or two.

Putting the FIZZ in physical health: Is drinking carbonated water healthy?

Good news for fans of the healthy buzz! Generally speaking, drinking sparkling water has no negative health risks. In fact, drinking carbonated water is just as hydrating as drinking regular water. It has also been shown to increase feelings of fullness and may aid in constipation and improve digestion. So go ahead, fill up your air up® bottle with fizzy water (you can carbonate it yourself with a soda maker) and enjoy the benefits!
