What is air up?
Water is the healthiest way to stay hydrated but also the most ordinary, some might even say, boring one. That’s why many of us struggle to drink enough. Not with air up: We add delicious flavour to plain water through scent alone. We don’t need any additives or sugar to give water a cherry, apple or even kola flavour. So, you drink plain water only but taste whatever flavour you prefer.
Come one, this sounds too good to be true! Well, it isn’t…
The science behind air up
The biological process air up uses to flavor water through scent is something every human experiences whenever they eat or drink. It’s fascinating that the majority of what we perceive as taste actually comes from smell rather than our tongues. Our tongues can only detect basic tastes like sweet, sour, bitter, salty, and umami. The true perception of flavor—what makes a strawberry taste like a strawberry—comes from a process known as retronasal olfaction.
In simple terms, airflow carries the scent of what we eat or drink (in this case, from flavored pods) through the throat and up to a part of your brain that sits above your nose. By exhaling this scented air through your nose, we’re able to perceive the flavor. Mind-blowing, right?
By the way, this is also why you don’t fully experience flavor when you have a cold and your nasal passages are blocked. During a cold the retronasal olfaction process simply isn’t working properly.
How to use air up
The key component of the air up drinking system is the scent pod. These are filled with natural aromas from e.g. fruits and herbs and release the scent molecules while you drink pure water.
The air up bottle is designed to hold both, water and a scent pod. It has a straw-like mechanism that helps deliver the scent from the flavour pod into your mouth, through your throat and up to your nose - where you ultimate taste.
So, fill your bottle with water, put a flavour pod on the mouthpiece of the bottle - tadaa, you’re ready to sip!
How long does an air up pod last?
One single air up pod works its magic for at least 5 litres of water. This means you can refill our 600ml bottles over 8 times and our 1L bottles around 5 times. Cheers to that!

How long do air up pods last?

What exactly is in the pod?
The scents inside our pods come from natural ingredients. Fruits, spices, herbs, that kind of thing. Then these scents are applied to an air-permeable material we call ‘the fleece’. No rubbish here—just natural goodness.
Where do we get the ingredients from?
Whilst we can’t spill all our secrets, we can say that all our scents come from a top-notch manufacturer who extracts them from natural sources. Our scent creation team then crafts a variety of unique flavors from these ingredients, and voilà – a Flavor Pod is created!
Also, we’re very proud to confirm that our pods are suitable for our vegan and vegetarian friends, too.
How do I prevent my bottle from leaking?
Our bottle has a pressure valve at the mouthpiece, so you can drink without stopping. To avoid leaks, sip without tipping! Just keep the bottle upright as if you were drinking out of a glass with a straw. Water could also leak out if the pod is not attached to the mouthpiece, or if the cap is not tightly closed.
Can you use air up with a blocked nose?
Well, it’s kinda like trying to dance without the music. The magic of Air Up is all in the scent, so if your nose is taking a day off, the flavor might feel a little, well, muted. When your retronasal olfaction is on pause, the taste experience doesn’t hit the same high notes.
Why is my air up bubbling?
Our Air Up Bottle uses scent-infused pods to create a flavor experience. That’s why when you drink from our bottle, it’s totally expected for small air bubbles to be included with each sip. These air bubbles carry the flavor from your pod and enable your brain to experience the scent as taste, all without anything being physically added to your water! So remember, bubbles = magic in progress.

Absolutely! Toss in some ice, pour in that sparkling water, and you’ve got yourself a cool, fizzy treat. Your Air Up Bottle can handle both. After all, who said hydration can’t be a little extra?
How do I clean my air up bottle?
Let’s get soapy! To keep your air up bottle in top shape, we recommend a good old-fashioned hand wash with lukewarm water and mild dish soap.
Dismantle the bottle, and give the straw, mouthpiece, and lid a thorough scrub. Use a brush to get into all those sneaky nooks and crannies. Don’t forget to remove the pod before cleaning—pop it back into the resealable pod pouch to keep that flavor fresh.
